Old Glass Question ...

Years back a old timer pointed out that some old , old windows loose there clarity and have the look of water sheeting down on them even though they aren't wet ... is this true ? And if it is true does the ground have the same effect on bottles ? PM me with answers ... Woodstock

Windows and bottles were made very differently. Really old windows were made in a process where they would have that appearance anyway, ageing would only make it more visible.

Those streaks on bottles are commonly known as "whittle marks". Usually found on 1800s era bottles.

I'll be trying my luck shortly at my first dump hunt. Not sure where to begin or how to start my attack. Currently there is a GMC from the 40's? laying on it's side, surrounded by what appears to be ''old spice'' cologne bottles.

Wanted to Thank John for his post with the link to bottle identification. What a great article with a lot of info!!!

I hope to post some of my finds, once I get to the layer below the Old Spice ;)
