I figured I would show my usual hunt with a few pictures. The landscape in this one is pretty barren due to a fire a few years back. It opened up a lot of sights. Rather than hunt a foundation site I have started wandering through the mountains with pretty good success. I go with the motto if I drop something at my front door I will find it but stumbling drunk through the woods one night I will not. Here are some of my usual finds when I get skunked. The last photose are my last 3 finds over a 2 month period.

Awesome. I detect mining areas almost exclusively and find exactly that kind of stuff. It is more meaningful to me than pulling a penny out of a curbstrip. I enjoy the solitude up in the mountains away from civilization. By the way, the bullet mold is a great find. It appears the last bullets cast were not removed before it was lost for a century. Incredible.

Yep! Prime gold country is pretty rough due to placer mining which stripped all the top soil away. It basically devastated the environment permanently.
