Copper plating or paint does no good, they test them with a magnet.

If you have a hunting buddy it might be a fun trick to play on them, put one in the dirt in an area you both will be hunting and watch for the initial expression on their face when they think they found a 43 copper
…...or you could put it in a coin roll for a family member to find
first show them the news story about the 43 copper and ask them to help you search thru some rolls of pennies just in case
