Newbie Needs only to Find Horseshoes

I'm really just interested in y'all's expert advice as to what is the cheapest working metal detector that will locate the horseshoes our horses occasionally lose to wet ground :(. They're never more than five or six inches down, rarely covered, just really hard to see if grass is growing around. I don't intend to use it for anything else--if the treasure hunting bug bites, I'll upgrade ;)--so the least expensive model you can suggest should do. Example: what about those $50 models at the big discount chain (I think it's called Bounty Hunter Fun Finder)?

Thanks in advance, Paul

I'm no expert but from what I've heard of Bounty Hunter Brand, they just might be able to detect a horseshoe if it's close to the surface....

I bought my nephew a $25 ferrous/non-ferrous(SP?) detector from Harbour Freight (they are on line) we have found several horse shoes with it. Its pretty basic but did the trick, he also finds allot of coins with it.
