The weather broke this week so i went into the woods to poke around a bit. Nothing great but it felt good to get out.

thank you. it was nice to get out. i got the 5x10 coil coming today. hopefully it will help with discrimination here. lots of iron and trash.

Looks like a fun hunt! Thanks for sharing the pics... neat finds.

About 8 years ago I was in the woods getting ticks in Montauk. N.Y. Actually it was like Ten years ago. Nice place Long Island.

Good work Billy!

Was there anything ever built here or was it just some kind of recreation area maybe?

Thanks for sharing.

Nice pics and thanks for sharing them...simply amazing how much difference there can be a few states away from the frozen tundra here....18" of snow on the ground here, and I hate to think how deep the frost is. Be awhile here to get out and about.

Yeah i have had this area mapped out for a while. I used google maps and historic aerials to put way points in my ctx. So i was able to find the foundations with ease. The oldest records i can find show a farm here. There is alot of trash around the foundations. Probably from the buildings falling down. There is another part of the woods that i find alot of girl scout stuff aging to the 1940s. I also have found 5 silvers in that area. All my finds are around 6 inches and less so im gonna go with my new 10x5 coiltek and see if it will help with target seperation. Also have some woods that i havnt poked around yet because of how overgrown with thorn bushes. If i have the patience i might slowly start poking around in there.

The ticks are bad here in the summer and fall. Thats why i try to get in these hunts around now. My wife pulled 23 ticks off me last summer after one hunt and i used tick repellant.

I like to see those coins in the hole. I prefer the woods too!

That Quartermaster collar device is cool.
