Default Anybody know what this is?

Hunting ina known civil war skirmish area. Had already pulled out a couple minie balls and flat buttons and then found this. My cousin is a civil war re-enactor and said that it may be horse equipment? The clasp on the back is solidly attached and not hinted like it would slide onto a belt. Any thoughts?

First thing I thought was a woman's hair clip, like a barette. Missing is the "snap" portion which capurges the hair in conjunction with the solid bar....at least that is the impression it left on me.

Not everything found in an area with civil war finds is from that era. I'm sure many women have walked that ground since the war and it probably wasn't always woods. Even if it came from a similar depth it doesn't necessarily mean it came from the same time.
