I have a question. I have A BH 202 - coil only picks up when swept, versus the BH 505 which has a no-motion coil. With detectors that use no-motion, is a pin pointer advantageous or necessary? I like the 202, but it is a lil tricky trying to home in on something and find it quickly. I haven't tried a pin pointer yet.

Well, a pin pointer is mostly used for finding the target in the hole, after you've already pinpointed it with your detector; most pin pointers will only pick something up within an inch or so.
