Took my son and his buddy to our early-1900's permission and the find of the day has to be the 1930's Princess Pat makeup compact (blush) which I dug fully intact in about 4" of soil. It hit like a copper penny +2 on my MAX (82). I was pretty excited when I carefully pried it open (hoping for a coin or some other type of treasure) and it stayed intact! I cleaned it up and put it in my shadowbox.
Most importantly, however, is that my son and his friend considered this a "successful day" and had a great time. My son and I haven't done very well detecting together lately (if we don't get something good in the first 5 minutes he just gives up and mopes around). Well with his friend there a new fire was lit under him and they traded off detecting and digging/pinpointing for a solid 2 hours. Sweet!
