Dug a 1950 S Washington quarter today. I noticed the S mint mark was different looking. Online, I found there are quarters from that year with an S over top of a D. This one looks kind of like that. What do you think?

So then googled for 1950 quarter S over D.
Here is example with photo:

Doesn't look like what you have but there may be variations.
You will need to have this coin examined by an expert.
I saw that one too. Nice clear example. Mine does not look like that, but has some similarities. Thanks. I'll bring it to a coin guy I know, to hear what he says. If he knows I'm not trying to sell it, he might give an honest opinion.

looks like something just scuffed the top of the S to me, but I am far from an expert on it
It does look like a ding there, but maybe it was part of the D that got dinged. I'm also wondering if that is another part of a D, inside the lower tail of the S. If this is an S over D mint mark, it's a poor example, I know.

I see some post mint damage and maybe...maybe some mechanical doubling on the S. S/D...nope. Sorry. But love your set up!:D
