I’m thinking a dumb car thief,instead of turning the key he still ripped the ignition out.

This was one of those "really solid signals that ISN'T a coin" -in the middle of a curb strip about 3' wide. The houses in this area are older, dating to the 1930's or so... in other news, a half-sparkplug rings up as a solid 12/47 on the E-trac.

Sweet find! I've heard that sometimes people would remove the ignition cylinder in order to save the whole lock. But I will say this:
FORD = Fix Or Repair Daily.

Definitely 1970s vintage. My first car was a 73 Gran Torino, the keys and ignition looked nearly identical to these.
