Forino wanted to get out on one last hunt before he goes to Florida on a 2 week vacation. He picked me up at 8am and temps were at 7 degrees above zero we pondered at the thought of bailing out of the hunt I said "Mike we gotta live up to our hardcore reputation here..Lets' do this! " so we were off! when the sun got higher and hit 25 it felt almost like spring compared to the early morning.:lol:
Was easy diggin in the woods still thank God! I got a 1906 IH,a horse buckle a few brass scraps,a bunch of old headstamps and a very nice CW Artillery eagle button.no pushes,almost full gilt and a clear backmark.a nice start to 2012.

Nice button!!! Looks like a nice site to hunt. How are the deer ticks this time of year?? Just curious cause I want to go hike up to a cellar hole in my area and wondering if I need any repellent.

they are laying low now its pretty chilly.didnt see any on me today

i think it's some wooden carriage or wagon related item.i hate these things cuz they ring up in the large cent range.like them pesky oxknobs do.

i hate the one i found too at a logging camp one of the two good signals all day

Nice finds Dave! That button is beautiful. I don't think that I have seen one nice come out of the ground. Did you dig all of those shotshell heads today? That would be the hunt of the year for me!!!

thanks Doug! yeah they don't come out often with this much gilt on them.yep all headstamps are from today
 
Great first hunt, Dave! The CW button is just beautiful...I've found several of those round things like the one next to the quarter while woods digging, and always wondered what they were...They do sound like something good when you run over one:roll:.
