Today I hunted a house that was built in 1894 but sits just a few blocks down from the court house that the confederate troops stopped at. The cuff button has a back mark that says Richmond Va and I can't make out the rest and its a local confederate made button. The other one people are telling me is a find of a lifetime!! It is a silver gilt swords up early war button. It says philla Hortsmann sons. Ty for looking and HH!

Woah. Sweet buttons. Congrats on some nice CS brass. Very cool. Could the back mark read "E.M. Lewis Richmond VA" ? I think some of the local made buttons had that backmark. I'll look it up for you in just a few. Going to grab my book. Killer buttons man.

I think the cuff button is post war:( a guy on FB says the back mark C. Wendlinger is post war
