I was looking through a case of relics that I haven't seen in a while and noticed this unique 3-ringer. Help me ID this one guys. It's side cast, longer & heavier than a standard Minie, and has some sort of teet in the cavity with a hole in it. Not sure if it's a a Georgia teet, explosive, or just a casting mark. Also has a sprue on the nose. Of almost 1000 bullets in my collection, I don't have any others quite like it. Thanks in advance for the help.

Without holding it, and remember I only have the Mason & McKee book, I can see a couple examples that might fit your bullet. i.e. on page 46, #322 is a rifled musketoon, csa, .64 cal. It has the line running up thru the groves like yours has, and it would be about that much larger than the standard 3 ringers. That's a nice addition to your collection.

Cool Bullet

Wolfman,

It's a Georgia Teat Base....or so called my Mac Mason.

Just a cool Southern mfg. bullet. Neat thing about those bullets, almost everyone is a tad different. So called because they were often found in the Georgia camps.

Believe it or not, there are also .69 caliber variants. Neat hunk of lead!

Hey Wolf.......long time no see. This is cool because I was going through some old stuff and I came across a bullet almost like yours. It's not as big, mine measures between .5175 / .5375 and is 1.0550 long. Mine doesn't have that pretty sprue on the nose but the cavity is exactly like yours. Also mine looks as though it may have been carved on a tad or could have been damaged from falling to the ground and hitting something hard and sharp.

I hope you find out what yours is so hopefully I can get an idea on this one. Anyway.....happy hunting.
