I was able to attend the JGD Spring hunt in Culpeper, Va. Last weekend. Had a great time on my first organized hunt. James, Josh and the rest of the committee put on a great hunt at a very historical area. Met some great diggers, learned a lot, and dug a few keepers.
My best find was at the end of the first day. Got an 1843 seated dime -- my new oldest coin. Some other finds I liked are a hammered flat minnie, a nice flat button that I think will show a backmark when cleaned, and what I think is a period, thin brass ring. Not sure what the iron piece is. It looks like a buckle or sling piece with an I bolt type hanger - don't know if it's CW period or newer. The spring clip is brass - I don't have a clue about it either
Thanks for looking. GL and HH. Chip
Forgot to add -- I won a Teknetics G2 in the prize drawings! Thanks Josh (Iron Clad Detectors) for the great prize!
