Smile My 2012 Silver

Although I've been metal detecting since about 1999 off and on -- THIS is the first year I have EVER found silver -- so far I've only found dimes and they've all been found with my BH 202 (which now is "dead" -- gotta fix it, hopefully).

But I thought I would show you the silver I have found this year so far. Still waiting on a quarter or half (any kind)! Picture isn't the greatest but maybe you can see them well enough, I hope. Each one was very exciting to find. Beats finding pennies!

Thumbs up Looks like you got the hang of it!

Funny, all the silver I've found (5) have been dimes too.
They do have a nice clear sound!

I'm at one dime and two war nickels...i think the dimes are more likely to be lost because even when they meant something they were so small if they landed on their edge in the grass you didnt stand a chance of finding them and the older detectors were good at quarters and bigger coins so missed a few of the dimes

It's been fun finding these dimes but now I don't have the use of my BH 202 (for now) as it has quit working -- loose wire on battery terminal, which I will fix soon. I am using a Compadre now. I will post my first finds with it soon -- I've just been really busy. But you can check out my wheat pennies I found with the BH 202 this year at this post that I just put up:

Thanks for all your comments and thanks for looking and HH!

Dimes are the smallest currency hence the easiest to lose other than pennies. The majority of my silver are Mercs. Good finds.

Congrats on your bumper crop year of silver dimes and thanks for sharing. Is there anything you have done differently this year that may account for your exceptionally good year compared to past years? Thanks and HH

Having Bonesquat teaching me proper technique for one -- minus the destroying of coins and having him show me better places to hunt! And he's helped me learn how to properly set the BH 202 (sensitivity/discrimination) and learning the sounds and when to dig and when to ignore it (he used to have a BH 202 as well at one time). He showed me what worked for him -- and it has proven to work for me as well. Now if I could only find quarters and halves (silver ones that is).

Right now my BH 202 needs repairs -- which I will do when I get time.
