Hi I seen A lot of detecors that have ground balancing mode. Mine detecor all ready has it built in I just turn it on and go. My question is what the difference between one all ready has it built in or you having a detecor that you have to balance it yourself.

Some people prefer the choice of being able to manually ground balance their detector. It is nice to have manual and auto ground balance built in so you have a choice depending on the condition of the grounds you are hunting.
Proper balancing gives you more depth and less chatter. In a heavily trashed area I would rather do it manually since auto ground balance may perform this task just as it passes over a piece of trash which is not a good thing. You should ground balance over a piece of ground that has absolutely no signals, ie; a clean area.

ramer said it all.

There is plenty to find in the first 5 inches of the soil but if you want to find deep stuff, ground balance is a key factor.
