What is it? Civil war site find

Hunting a site this morning that was a part of Chickamauga.
Found an unusual iron piece that at first glance had a sword shape appearance. But it is thick and heavy. One side is flat while the other side is convex.
My foot in the pic for reference.
Any ideas?

Hm!

Sure it isn't a frying pan handle? I've dug em' in camps before. Hard to tell without seeing a side view.

Hmmm!

Now that I can see the side view, it isn't consistent with the pan handles I've found. Never seen one bent because they were cast iron and would break before bending. You were still in the days of blacksmiths so who knows. I'm sure if could talk, we'd all be interested in the story.
