Fisher M-97

Im going to the virgin islands would really like to play with a metal detector on the beach. Have a guy that wants to trade for a Fisher M-97. Can I use this on the beach for hunting coins and rings? I mean I know it might work but can anyone give me real experience advice?

PS I no long have any of my other detectors

From what I can tell it is an industrial machine.
Supposed to have ground effects rejection and is a VLF unit which is good, but it designed to find big objects like large pipes buried deep which is bad.
Never heard of anyone using one as a hobby detector...probably for a good reason.
