Hi everyone, new member from Arizona.

Tried metal detecting on the beach of South Padre Island for a couple of days recently. I think I'm hooked! Found $3.61 in old crusty coins with a relatively inexpensive detector I got from Amazon. Worked good in the wet sand, but met a guy there with an Equinox detector and he was very helpful giving us some pointers.
Thinking to upgrade now to the Equinox 600
Wish I knew it sooner!

I have a silly question...can you disassemble the Equinox 600 for travel ?
Flying for example and can you check it in with your luggage or you have to carry on?

Thanks in advance!

Welcome from Winnsboro, South Carolina !!!!

I have the Equinox 800 and had to assemble it when it was delivered so I guess it can also be disassembled also though I've never had a need to do so, as far as checking it with your luggage I'll leave that question to those who have traveled by plane with their detector.

In case you haven't seen them yet here are some short but very helpful tutorials on the Equinox series:

(they cover both the 600 and 800)

Also, you might consider checking with the forum sponsors to see if they can give you a better deal than you might find elsewhere on the Equinox - http://metaldetectingforum.com/forum_sponsors.php
(I got mine thru Myers Metal Detectors and he was great to deal with, I won mine thru an online contest and he was chosen by the contest giver as the prize supplier)

Welcome from San Jose, CA! While I don't own an Equinox, I'm sure you could disassemble the machine (for the most part) to where you can travel with it. The three detectors I own can all be taken apart and stored in a backpack.
