Question on the ACE 250

I have a question regarding the ACE 250 I?ve just bought.

When toggling through the modes, if I select all metal, both that and custom mode are highlighted at the same time.

Jewellery is highlighted when I select that, as are Custom and Coins when I select them.

When I select Relics, nothing is highlighted, although the display blocks change, in to what I take to be the correct mode.

Everything else seems to be working OK???.. Is this a fault ?

Looks like you have a meter problem.

I didn't think it was normal.
I did think it might be something to do with it being an export version, but it still has the US coin logo's on it.

Looks as if I'll have to get it swapped.

Even though I know there's a problem with it, I thought I'd give it a
go on the test bed in the garden, and compare with my Hawkeye.
Tests were rather inconclusive, as I found that apart from the mode
display not working correctly when "Relics" is selected, the sensitivity
meter didn't work, but the battery indicator fluctuated

Then I found that I had a break in the headphone lead on my Hawkeye,
so had to find another jackplug, and soldering iron

I was told there would be days like this :mad:

sounds like a bad day. Send that ace back in and get you one that's working right. I'll bet you will find everything in the testbed then.

I hope so.

Things are in motion to get me a replacement now. I was exchanging emails with the company who imports Garretts to the UK, and he said there was also a circuit board alteration to be done. Didn't say what though. :?:

I now have the replacement circuit board fitted to my 250. All I need is somewhere to go and try it out., I do wish this weather would warm up !! :o(
