After work I headed up the street to a standing permission I’ve had going on two years now. I’ve probably have hunted there 15-20 times and even some of my friends have hunted it with me. I hunted one of the side yards next to the gravel driveway and went super slow digging anything above a foil signal with the ctx 3030. The place is loaded with iron. My first signal was a surface find that was just a piece of !!!! but after I picked it up I swung the coil back over the spot and to my surprise I get a pitch perfect 12-47-12-48 signal 4” down. Thinking no freaking way it’s gotta be a piece of copper tubing or some other piece of junk I dug down and out pops a 1942 Merc!! Just goes to show you how stuff can easily be masked! After that I ended up finding 8 wheaties and one of the wheaties has some sort of paint on the back that preserved parts of it perfectly. I thought it may have been another coin that was stuck to it but it wasn’t. I found a old button what to me looks like a fire truck on it, I also found a 1939 Jefferson nickel and a buffalo nickel, and a aluminum thimble. I’m surprised that I found so much in a spot I’ve hammered but it goes to show if you slow down and dig those crappy signals it pays off. Ty for looking and HH!
