Well since there's no metal in an insulator this was technically an eyeball find, but we were detecting. Only part of it was sticking out of the ground. I gave it a tug and it came out. Thankfully, despite a broken piece, "KNOX" was still intact allowing me to easily identify this as a KNOX Porcelain Corp. Insulator. The company was around 1923 - 1975 according to Internet sources. I'd date this piece as being from the 1940's or 50's based on the other items we have found from this site.

Anyone else find and collect these? They are pretty cool (and heavy).

Nice find. Have yet to find one in the wild but I bought a box of them at a garage sale. I think they're neat. I put some of the translucent ones in the window so the sun shines through them.
