Have no idea what this is.

Hi all,
Found this on an old homestead, there is no writing on it, just a nice pattern all around it, looks like part of it is broken at the narrow end of it, looks to be brass or bronze and is quite heavy, any ideas folks ?

A bit small for a razor handle, but I'm not familiar with strait razors, or maybe a more modern razor that turns at the bottom to open it up to replace the blade. I don't know what time period those came out. A plumb bob sounds reasonable as well.
