Brass eagle fastener

Found this today at an 1880's spring fed resort area.

It's brass and says warranted superior on the front.

The eagle makes me think it might be military related.

Any Ideas?

It's a medallion from an old saw. I found one a couple years ago myself. Here is a pic of the saw. I think it's late 1800s to early 1900s.
