Need some help with these. Found on site with items back to 1900. Anyone have any ideas? Thanks in advance.

To me, it somewhat looks like the knockers that used to be on older front doors. The shape is similar, but the actual knocker part is missing.

It has the wrong kind of screws to be part of a door knocker. The screws have nuts on the back side, it has be affixed to something thin. Are there some letters running vertical on the top piece down near the bottom right corner ?

It almost has the appearance that it would accept a shoe, and just as a crazy guess, a womans shoe. Like a foot rest of some sort/

No numbers but I can barely make out a GF on the back side of the smaller piece. In the upper right quadrant near the center of the piece

From the pictures, look like they are made from pot metal.
Think they are broken mounts used for wood ceiling fan blades to the fan motor.

That makes a lot of sense now that you suggest that. Particularly with the width of the item they were attached to. I think you may have solved the mystery! Thanks a ton!
