1700s Musket parts and Colonial goodies

I did it. I checked one off the Colonial Bucket List. Join Gary, Stan and the new guy Shawn. Post video edit update: Gary's pewter button fits the 1760 - 1790 design. Stan sent me a chart, but it didn't make it in time for the video edit. So yeah we killed it with some really old stuff today including a flint striker plate off a red coat muzzle loader. Yeah, I'm still sweating. Thanks for watching.

thanx for sharing. Gotta dig some LC's and busts to "spice it up". Next time !
 
what they call a napped Native American flint is a French amber musket flint. The "striker plate" is a musket lock. What you all found is a flintlock musket lock from a French musket. It is not a Brown Bess. The powder pan is faceted not round so it is French. The pocket knife they found with the lock is actually the broken mainspring from the lock.
