I found this on 4th of July. All I could see were a few stars on the outer rim. I soaked coin in distilled water, then put in the freezer. It helped to bust off most of the crust. Then tooth picks. Then short bath in ultrasonic cleaner. If ya think it’s a different date. Let me know.

Ouch! That guy is kinda roasted! I think the date is right though, and that’s “getting back there” for us average Joes. Nice retrieval!

Looks good on the date. Just stinks they die in the soil so bad. Good find though!

If i ever find a chain cent it well look like that sad ,but it's old and a great find . sube

Once in awhile the poor-little-eastern hunters have to put up with a toasted LC. Oh boo-hoo. :sissyfight:

Good job on the recovery. Sorry it not in better shape, but you have a date. Just getting a I’d makes me happy.

Nice recovery and congratulations to you. Yeah she’s a little toasty but it’s still an old US coin and to find it on the fourth is pretty fitting. Nice job

The way I look at it is, Even with the toasty condition, you were in a great spot for other older coins. Don't give up on the area. It might still hold silver or gold !!!

I find a lot of large cents, but unfortunately, they're all so corroded that they go straight into the garbage :crying:
