Nice morning to hit the local school sports fields again. Hunting primarily for rings and jewelry, as I am now determined to find some gold, sterling, or other precious metals. Took nearly an hour to find the ring. When I pulled it out of the hole, I could see it was a ring; gold colored, and a white opal. I could see the fire in the opal, giving me hope that this one might be real gold. A little rub clearly revealed that it was just a plated ring, but with a nice opal. Not long after that, a solid copper penny signal at 4 inches, turned out to be a Christian cross, with the chain wrapped around it in a rusty crust ball. This had some gold color too, but I can tell it's not solid gold. The total hunt yielded a few more bucks in change, part of a brass pot pipe, and a lot more junk.
