Copper Copper Copper!! 1800"s old school site.

Just when I think the CTX is a silver machine it turns around and shows me otherwise. :shock:

I went to an old 1800"s school house site today that we have hunted before. I hunted from about 5:30pm until 8:00pm and covered most of the area. I personally didn't find much with the AT Pro last time I hunted it but Dad found 3 Indians and a Civil war token. Today I was hunting it with a new machine and in a different direction with high hopes!

I dug everything, mostly junk however I did get a nice 1890 Indian at 8-9inches and the a copper ring about 10ft away. 2 swipes over and got another copper ring in way better condition with designs!

My conclusion is the CTX is a ring machine :yes:

Gold, Silver, Copper, Titanium, TC it finds them all!!!

Does anyone know anything about copper rings? They look like wedding bands but was that they style back then? Any info at all would be appreciated. If it's not stamped gold, sterling or something shiny I'm clueless.

Sometimes the old brass wedding bands are marked/stamped gold. I have found four stamped as gold.

Nice finds, I would guess that the rounded ring could be a wedding band, but not the flat one.
The 3030 almost never misses copper or silver

The flat ring I posted with the engravings I'm unsure about. The actual engraving marks are shiny once I cleaned it up a bit. However the rest of the ring is that brownish/red copper color. Anyone know how to clean them up?

brasso and then a lot of buffing. Here's another one that was stamped as 14K but it's only brass/copper. I soaked It in BRASSO and then used a bench grinder with a buffing wheel. It came out really nice and you would swear its pink gold. The draw back is that the inside turns black when you wear it.
I was told to use clear nail polish on the inside to prevent that. Or to use clear spray paint on the entire ring and that will protect It from oxidation.
I just never got around to doing it.
Hopefully you can get through the reddish corrosion. It can take some time.

Also you asked about if these were in style.
From what I know. Most of the wedding bands were used during work if they had a physical job. the other ones that were stamped as gold but were brass or plated/filled were sold by con artists door to door.

Here's another brass band and a ring stamped 18k but it's not. Its gold filled.
