Hi everyone, I'm new here and am absolutely loving the site!!

As the title says I'm using an old Whites Coinmaster 590Di

The other day I was hunting around a small creek. I eventually started swinging over the surface of the water, and then eventually started to scan just under the water.

Ever since the detector is going wonky. Beeps constantly as you swing, lots of false signals.

My question is did I destroy the coil by going under the water. I feel like an idiot. The coil looks cased in plastic and water tight, and I remember my dad using it along the water line at the beach. The battery check says the batteries are fine.

Any input would be great. Try not to bash me to hard for being a dolt and submerging the coil :)

sounds like the coil had a leak in it and you may still have water inside. I had a 4900 D that did the same thing after using it in some shallow water. I ended up getting a new coil for it.

That goes along with what I'm thinking. I'm in the market for a new detector anyways and I think I'm going with the Fisher F2. Thanks for the response.
