Anyone ever win a find of the month contest?

SAY IT ISN'T SO !!

Great coin BTW. Absolutely beautiful.
Yup, only got 10 months left on my sentence! LOL!

As for the coin, it was pretty nice out of the ground, but it started to flake after it dried. It's way too fragile to get it slabbed, which is a real bummer. I wouldn't sell it, but it would have been nice to get it authenticated and encapsulated. Still a great find, though.

I recall reading on the forum this year about someone winning the Garrett FotM contest...it was for a silver medallion related to William Wallace and/or Robert the BRuce IIRC.

No find of the month yet, but I did get a $100 gift certificate from White's for my first silver dollar story. I think they do that for the first story you get posted in their finds section. I did get a 2nd story posted,(for my first ever gold ring), but no prize.

Also, I can claim winning "find of the weekend" contest, here in the Members Contests section.

Never did receive the prize, though. ChrisMD stopped posting, too, shortly after that.

I January I found this antique Scottish medallion. I sent pictures to uncounted Scottish, English and American museums, universities, historians, special research groups etc. to learn about the numerous engravings. Among the more interesting things recorded are William Wallace’s initials and the date of his execution ( year is wrong) and two references to my ancestors ( one helped Robert Bruce become King and the I MAK SICKER phrase relates to the incident and Bruce made it our family motto in 1306. Before that the phrase TOUCH AND I PEARCE (Pierce) was the motto and is on the opposite side).

This won Kellyco’s Find of the Week and Vaughn Garrett’s Find of the Month. It also had a full page article in Archeology and Metal Detecting magazine (Scotland), full page in Treasure Hunter magazine (UK) and full page in American Digger and was center of the cover.

I’ve been asked by a number of museums and Scottish groups to present on it. Still can’t believe I found it.

I was a monthly winner on Fisher’s Facebook page and won a Fisher F-22. All three of the coins pictured were in the same plug.
