Metal detector unearths 400-year-old sixpence in grazing land


A metal-detecting enthusiast "hit the spot" when he unearthed a silver coin more than 400 years old on Sunday.
Keith Andreae, a retired aquarium shop owner, unearthed a sixpence from the reign of the first Queen Elizabeth in pastureland in East Surrey.

A find like that would be a once in a life time find . I am afraid I wouldn't sell it ether if I found it . Very good story , thanks for sharing it with us .

I found an Elizabeth I sixpence myself, several years ago. It was my first hammered.
Elizabethan silver coinage is one of the most common types found. Reason being, it was a period of great prosperity, so there was a lot of it about.
