Went hunting today by a park near a railroad that now has a historical train station museum in the area. It was built in 1854 and rebuilt in 1914 and closed. It is up by FDR and Vanderbilt mansion area. I'm wondering if it's from the tear down when they rebuilt or the tracks? The park where my kids were playing, next to the swings right by the tree I found this at also had a line of buried train spikes I saw and left. They were still spiked down and just covered so I'm thinking the station maybe came out further back in the 1800's? Any thoughts appreciated, thanks!

Looks like a chunk of cast iron... some here call these things leverites meaning leave them where you found them....

I was thinking railroad tie plate of sorts. Might be too big for that though. Whatever it is, it looks like it was possibly broken at one point.
