Yes, Tesoro is a tiny outfit. It's amazing what they've put out over the years.

But in years past there were other brands that were very small.

The Ground Hawk is no longer made but is still sought after by those who know how good it was:

The Ground Hawk was basically a one-man enterprise in his TV repair shop as I recall.

It's not how big one is--but how smart one is that counts.

That's very true. Tesoro is such a well known name with a lot of detectors out there, so 1 to 4 people just seems very small.

Ya, and I think when they say employees they mean those outside family members who are hired.

Tesoro has always been very much a family business.

Go to the Tesoro factory. I think there is something wrong with all those numbers.:?:

It might be that the actual manufacturing is done by another company. Companies often form a bunch of 'independent' companies even though they are still owned by same people...

You forgot one of the big ones:

Minelab Inc is a private company categorized under Prefabricated Metal Buildings and Components and located in Las Vegas, NV. Current estimates show this company has an annual revenue of $50 to 100 million and employs a staff of approximately 100 to 249.

Interesting that it is listed as a prefab metal bldg. business. But the full profile clearly states it makes metal detectors.

Minelab is an Australian company. They do have a repair center in Vegas though.
