big silver ring with nf markings

looked for any markings and found only NF nothing else
,what does nf mean? will post pics when I get home the ring looks pretty old and worn like someone has worn it for along time

NF could be hallmark of the silversmith or the "NF" indicates "nickel filled" with sterling silver plating.
ive also seen it may mean nickel free......i guess im no help

I do know 925 was not common untill 1970s of so.
It could be 925 nickle free that would increase the chance of having real diamonds
