I had the opportunity to dig at a vacant 1800's home last week where one of my co-workers is keeping bees... he heard from the present owner that a fella was helping the former resident replace windows (turns out it was in 1997) and lost his gold wedding band. My co-worker put some little flags by where he thought the ring might have been lost...

Further...

I didn't find any ring in that area; dug a few interesting things (lantern parts and such) but it was so full of nails you couldn't be sure what was in there without breaking out a sifter and shoveling the dirt in.

But...further out in the front yard on the other side of the little sidewalk, a few inches down in the sand, voila!!

(My first ever gold of any kind)

And Further...

Tough to find my first gold ring and know I was giving it back (the gentleman runs a local farm market) but I got a '36 dime a couple feet away too

And finally...

And yesterday (Sunday), my bee-keeping co-worker and I surprised this gentleman at the farmer's market with his wedding band which had been in the dirt for the last 21 years... he never replaced it and it still fit. I got a free jar of raw honey from the market out of the deal! ...so now I have to find myself a keeper gold ring! (I'll have to suffer with two-centers and mercs for the time being...………)

Had to crop myself mostly out of course since I was working during the return.

What a great story. You scored a couple keepers and definitely made that guys day! Congratulations and good luck finding a gold ring for yourself!

Yep, I agree how nice it was to see the gentleman get his lost ring back....kudos to you for paying it forward!

primetime

:wow2: Sweet hunt! Great job on the return. :D

Curious... since the 2-Cent piece was in the driveway, did you find it with the detector, or eyeball it? Either way, what an amazing find!

Congrats on finding that lost ring and returning it! And congrats on finding that 2 cent piece and some silver as well! Hopefully you can get back there and hunt it some more.

Awesome job on the return and other great finds. You just bought yourself enough good karma that your golden keeper will come.

Wow, heck of a return! Congrats on your first gold, a beauty of a 2 cent piece, and the free jar of honey..... ;)
