Thank you. I’ve been searching the web and havent been able to find any pics or details on this specific “best colour” flat button. They have a lot of different “colour” colonial type buttons I just found it weird I couldn’t find this design. Thanks again.
 
Some general remarks about your button. The spelling of color is definitely European, probably England. It can range in age from the 1790s to the 1840s. Yours is like older than the 1840s as we stopped importing them for the most part around the 1820s because we had received the technology to make our own one piece buttons.
 
I tried cleaning it up a little more and it’s hard to say if there is another marking on it by the shank. My guess is that there is not an additional marking.
 
I take that back. The more I look at it the more I think maybe there is something there. I’m thinking initials maybe? Hard to make out though. Maybe an LI? Hard to say.
 
Yeh there's something. May be something on both sides of the shank.

Which may tell you more, if you can dry toothbrush it a bit more.
