My buddy got these 5 stained and finished a few days ago,..we had been working on these my last few trips up to his shop. The middle one with the double twist came home with me for some ink.....I love to see the sun bounce off that tiger maple.

Forgive my ignorance, but what will you do with these now?

My buddy has a bag and horn business,...these things are accouterments for the blackpowder community....folks that shoot flintlocks (Kentucky Rifles) mainly but percussion also. He'll sell them at a show or big rendezvous or through his website or however. I just work with him for fun,..I get some payback for my inkwork.....but I just enjoy working with bone/antler/horn.

I Have made a couple of powder horns but just left them plain. No talent for decorating. Used them for a number of years when I was shooting black powder. Those are very nice horns. Post a picture once they are decorated.

Thanks for the info. Be sure to update with pics of the finished product

One of these horns was finished up a few months back. The coat of arms is British,..which has been "defaced" ,..and also has a couple of griffins after it. Symbolism such as this was common in the 18th century. It's very much a pro revolution horn...

Unlike many of you I do most of MD'n in the winter months after hunting season,..this year was a total washout for me. Anyway,...I managed to throw down a little ink.

Exquisite work. What is the process? Do you use power tools to etch and then use the ink?

Death to Tyrants!

Not a power tool one is used,..it's all done by hand. Draw with a pencil,..use a scribe for the etching,..add ink. A little more to it than that,..but that's a nutshell version.

Thank you gent's for the comments. :chaplin:

Very detailed work indeed !!!!

Interesting it includes the word "Property", reminded me that I read somewhere long ago that the phrase “Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness” was changed to that from the original phrase “Life, Liberty, Property”.

Also an interesting point the average person might not think about is that anything you are required to pay yearly taxes on you really do not own outright, people think if they pay off their home and land it is their property but as long as you have to pay yearly taxes you do not truly own it, stop paying taxes and see how long it stays in your possession, yearly property taxes is effectively "rent" you have to keep paying to stay there  To truly own sometime it has to stay yours without any further ongoing payments.
(note: just stating basic facts, please don't anyone turn this into a political discussion, thanks !)

Thank you and Yesiree,..to all of that. The revolution was largely about taxation,...King George liked to collect them :kingdances:
