Found this while hunting an old city park this morning. My research has led me to hand saw medallions but this has a threaded nub on one side that seams to be in the wrong place for an old saw medallion. Maybe a blade-tightening hand nut for an old hacksaw? Almost looks like someone fabricated it.
The '35 merc was found in the vacinity at about the same depth.

I've found two of 'em, one brass and one aluminum. Yours is obviously smashed flat, as the bolt stem protruded out perpendicular from the medallion design face.
