Yesterday I hunted in the ocean, then I left the detector in the (hot) car until tonight when I turned it on to use it and the 1280 is chirping steadily and not responding to metal. Uh-oh, has anyone here heard of this happening before?
I'm looking for clues and I found exposed wire in the headphones and moisture in the battery case which also smelled bad. Maybe the gasket needs replaced as it did pop out on its own.
