Horse shoe half

At first I thought I dug my first ox shoe, but wrong shape. This shoe appears to be meant to only be a half. I've never seen a half horse shoe or is this just one snapped in half? It doesn't look that heavily worn to be worn thru.

Mule shoe would be my guess.

My understanding is that sometimes a farrier will design a shoe like that to correct a short coming in the horses hoof. A damaged hoof, a gimpy gate etc. I'd google orthopedic horse shoes.
