I recently got permission to detect at a former state armory. The front portion of the building was built in the 1920's and the gymnasium was added shortly after WW2. It was in use as a National Guard armory until 2013. There isn't much grass but so far I have found almost $5 in modern coins, several wheat pennies, a couple rank insignias, 1 master sergeant, 1 specialist. And lastly, a 1942 Mercury dime, no mint mark. Not bad for only two days totally 2 hours of detecting! The owner tells me an excavator is coming out tomorrow to dig a trench for a drain that wraps around the building and I should come out and detect the dirt they pull out.
