Hunted a very old homesite. Owner was a very tough black woman who was a well known moonshiner. Her house was also a popular juke joint.

Found what appears to be a cap of some sort. It's smashed flat, otherwise in good shape. I assume it's a car part but I'm useless with car mechanics.

Any idea what it is and maybe a time period?

Made in the USA didn't appear until 1912

The F was higher prior to 1914

1914-1927

I can't tell if it's steel or brass or zinc
If it's steel (nickel or brass plated) it's 1916
If it's polished zinc it's 1924
