Looks like the machine ultimately won. Needed the fire station crew to rescue him.

I liked the old claw machines they had when I was a kid, only a nickel per play and they were filled with lots of various neat toys and other things, not just stuffed toys.
I got to be very very good at it and could sometimes pick up what I was trying for with just a few nickels !
