Been hittin a few corn fields and cellar holes.....These are on private properties , so it takes effort to acquire permissions to hunt these spots...(in case someone thought you can just waltz onto any spot that looks enticing and have at it......)
Anyway....I've been basically just honing in on early 1800s dwellings locations..
Heres some of the stuff from the last couple outings.
The holed item I dug today is from the same foundation where I snagged the merc yesterday. I really thought there should be something old there. I was digging wheats but no Indians....So I was pretty satisfied to finally have dug something old....despite its condition.......
It was pretty hard to accept it was a coin at first....the thing is so so smooth.....but when I saw the hole I was pretty sure it would be a 1800s coin , or maybe a Reale......
It appears someone was attempting some kind of artwork on it..
You really have to look at this thing in several different angles and lights to see some original features of the coin....But clearly the O N E and tiny specs of the wreath are visible and on the front the base of the seated liberty is slightly visible......
