Hi history hunters, is it possible it's a bayonet?
One side has a classic blade and the other side has 3 toothed sections. The length is 40 centimeters. I would like to restore the object to its original appearance ... Would anyone help me with the destination?

So it's 15 and a half inches in case anyone else doesn't get metric.

It looks like the cutting edge is worn down like it was doing a whacking job.

Wire brush it near where the handle would attach and see if there is some writing there.

Very interesting find.

Good luck.

Just curious, was it found in an area where WW1 was fought or troops occupied? The Germans and Swiss both made Saw Back Knives/Bayonets in the early 1900's. It's hard to tell if your find has a fuller on the blade or not. Also the 3 different Saw Tooth sections is odd too. They could have been filed into the spine by an individual during the same time. Typically the Saw Teeth ran the full length of the spine. Do some research, your may find a similar variation. I don't think it's very modern....

I'll try to clean it again, I cleaned with a brush and I don't seem to find an embossed brand manufacturer. The bayonet was found near a military excavation and nearby was found a German button from World War II uniform and some pfenningy ... but I really can not find any type of bayonet, which would look and design match
