I was hesitant to post this story because these coins weren't found yesterday. They are from my better, or should I say luckier, detecting trips over the years. I started detecting in 1971, but there wasn't a good detector that came out until 1982 and that's when I found my first Walker. After encouraging words from members of this forum, I am posting these to share.

#1 I found this 1943-S Walker at a school in Anchorage, Alaska, and it was buried 2" deep where the school buses turned around. The "soil" was sawdust which had kept this beauty from getting ruined over the years. I found this one in 1982 with my Whites 4000D Series 2 detector.

#2 I found this 1945-D Walker in a park in Eugene, Oregon. It was buried 2" deep in wet grass, along with a 1927-S Mercury dime in mint condition. I found this one in 1983 with my Whites 4000D Series 2 detector.

#3 I found this 1934-S Walker at a lake in Oregon's Cascade Mountains. It was buried about 1" deep under a giant fir tree by the waters edge, and was buried in fir needles which kept this beauty in pristine condition over the years. It is the best Walker I have ever found. I found this one in 2017 with my old Whites 4000D Series 2 detector that I decided to shake the dust off after years of non use.

#4 I found this 1935-S Walker at the same lake in Oregon's Cascade Mountains that I found the 1934-S Walker at. It was buried only 3" deep beside a path leading to the lake in very soft dry soil. It was only 100 yards from where I located the 1934-S, and was in about as good of condition! I found this one in 2017 with my Whites MXT All Pro

#5 I found this Walker with no date in Southern Oregon. I believe it is a 1934 or 1944, as the last number is 4, and there is no mint mark. It was located at an old race trace under blackberry bushes. It was lying on top the ground under some dead grass. This one is the ugly duckling of the lot, but was still a welcome sight! I found this one about 2 weeks ago with my Whites MXT All Pro.

I found this Standing Liberty quarter at the same lake in Oregon as the Walkers, and in the same area. It too was nestled in fir needles only an inch deep. It is a 1929-S and in almost mint condition. It is the only Standing Liberty I've ever found, and it was with my trusty old Whites 4000D Series 2 detector in 1983.

The BEST silver coin I've ever found was this 1890-CC silver dollar. It came from a park in Southern Idaho, and was in dry soil 5" deep. I almost didn't dig it because it read "zinc" but had a VDI of 95. Come to find out there were 2 zinc pennies lying right above it at only 2" deep! I found it in 2016 with my Whites MXT All Pro. All of these coins have some of the original luster and have only been "cleaned" with dish water. These are the very best silvers I've found, and they are getting harder and harder to come by. I'm sorry the quality of these pictures do not properly justify the actual coins......they are much better than they appear here!
