Default Think I've lost my Sovereign

Went to the beach yesterday. Turned my beloved Sovereign on and it started wailing. Continual scream that sounded like it was in pain. Turned off and on several times but made no difference. Fiddled with all the controls but still no effect. Finally turned it off and grabbed another machine.

When I got home I took the battery out and put it on the charger. Pried off the coil cover and cleaned the coil. Today I reassembled it and it was still crying uncontrollably.

I used it last week and everything was fine.

I know Minelab no longer services them. Anybody have an idea I can try?

2 AT Pros, XTerra 705, Tesoro Sand Shark, 2 Garrett Ace 250s, 2 Pro Pointers, 2 scoops, an understanding wife and a sore back!

Try a new battery. I have a lot of devices with rechargeable batteries, NiMhs, NiCads and Lithium ion, and when the batteries go defective they don't work right. So before you get too invasive, try a new battery.

Not in it "for the hunt"--I dig history.
