Brass lid or knob?

I see it’s brass from where I nicked it with the shovel. It’s shallow and has fine threads on the back, with a hole in the center.

I'm guessing a top to a glass fuel filter or water separator

I’m thinking maybe a radiator cap, and the hole is for an ornament.

I agree. Some older radiator caps had ornaments attached; while others had thermometers that protruded through the hole to give water temps.
