Help to ID ornate brass piece

I was helping my brother move this weekend and my nephew found this piece of brass in the new yard. Anyone know what it is or it age?

It appears to have been affixed to a piece of wood via brass pin at one time. I'm thinking a leg tip to a small table or such .

Definitely the leg off of something. No idea what though.
